Snazzy, light, warm November 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This jacket combines great looks and functionality. Just right for cool weather when you need something warm and non-bulky. It's water resistant and stops the wind. Feels nice on the inside (a layer of fleece) and the outside. The North Face analog (Apex Pneumatic Jacket) is nice too, but I doesn't feel right around the wrists. If you have cash to spend you might want to go for a sofshell over $100, but for $60 (Amazon price) this jacket is perfect.
Stylish, warm, and lightweight January 5, 2009 This coat is incredibly light weight, but very warm compared to just a fleece-type Columbia jacket (which I had before). This coat has become my everyday coat, and it works great - I'm not sure how it holds up to skiing or snowboarding conditions.
The inside material is a thin fleece, not the long, blanket style fleece, which interacts with my inside clothes much less than the other fleece jacket I had before. The outside material is a glossy polyester, almost looks like a dull black satin. Water brushes of this material easily.
Pockets are double-sided, accessible from the outside through zipper pockets and through the inside pouch-style pockets.
Zipper is quite large, and the zipper handle can flip over to rest inside the coat - a feature of many ski and snowboard coats.
The bottom of the coat can be left loose for a modern, stylish look, or it can be bunched up using the built-in elastic band for a more snug fit.
The ends of the sleeves are controlled by a light elastic which hangs a bit loose, and it cannot be adjusted, which may be a turn-off for certain buyers. For my purposes, it is not an issue.
Good, quality Columbia coat, as usual.
Great light jacket January 6, 2009 This is exactly what you'd expect from a softshell jacket, and comes at a great price. I wear mine as a light jacket, rather than zipping it into a winter coat, and it's perfect. In terms of warmth and comfort, it's easily comparable to Northface Fleece jackets.
it's a coat December 28, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Is really what you would expect. It flawlessly zips into into the outer liner and has the little tie-downs that hold it in place. It is not as warm as the original inner-liner but not too bad. It does not have the smooth lined sleaves so it is a little tough to put long sleaves into and seems to be a little "bunchy" when moving, however that also means that you don't get the freezing shock from the lined sleeves either. Overall it is a coat, and if you have a need for a replacement inner liner for a Columbia jacket, this works well.
